Terms & Conditions: We can tint this product to Ralph Lauren colors. We recommend painting wall to wall on areas that need touch ups because there can be slight differences in sheen and texture between the two manufacturers. Paint color charts on this page are only to be used as reference. Depending on display settings, monitors can distort paint colors making them appear lighter, darker or different than the actual product will be. All colors made will match the original Ralph Lauren color chips.
Custom colors are available with a $10 custom fee per color on first order of said color.
Here's what you'll need for your brushed suede project:
Base Coat: A flat wall paint in the desired color
Topcoat: Dutch Boy Brushed Suede
Tools: Paint trays and liners, 2" paint brush, mini roller (foam or 1/2" nap roller cover), 9" roller (foam or 1/2" nap roller cover), and frame, 4" synthetic bristle brush
Step 1: Before painting, make sure walls are clean dull and dry.
Tip: Applying a coordinating base coat color in a flat finish will aid in coverage; however, it is not necessary if Dutch Boy Brushed Suede is applied per label instructions.
Step 2: Pour tinted Brushed Suede into a paint tray. Starting at the top corner of the wall, generously cut in 18" strips across the ceiling edge and down the corner with a brush. Texture the wet paint by rolling over it with the mini roller.
Tip: Before the first stroke, load roller with paint, then roll it off on newspaper until roller is almost dry. Priming the roller makes it ideal for texturing and won't remove the brushed-on paint.
Step 3: Using the 9" roller, apply Brushed Suede to the 18" x 18" area that has been cut in. Continue to cut in and roll 18" sections all the way down the wall, reloading the roller for each section. When the column is complete, follow with a light ceiling-to-floor sweep without reloading the roller. Repeat process across the entire wall. Allow 4 hours to dry. It is normal for the first coat to look somewhat uneven. This will be corrected with the second coat.
Step 4: Apply the second coat of Brushed Suede with a 4" synthetic bristle brush in a crisscross pattern of overlapping X's over the entire surface. Use large sweeping motions and blend to create an irregular, mottled appearance. Avoid making small, well-defined X's. When dry, your wall will have the appearance of soft, hand-brushed suede.

2016 Suede Paint Ralph Lauren Collection
Some colors below are also listed above. This is because Ralph Lauren has included some of the classic Suede colors in their new color collection. Touch-up is very difficult with Suede products, so we recommend painting from wall to wall. If you are trying to touch up a Suede project, please contact us before purchasing.
This 2016 color chart is shown with a texture, which can make some colors appear lighter or darker than colors with the same name on the first color chart. Ralph Lauren used the same color names and included them in multiple color collections which means the same color could have a different (SU) number.
This is a tinted product and therefore cannot be returned.
